Wisconsin Bowfishing Guide Service and Rate Information

Wisconsin only requires a fishing license to bowfish and there is no limit on the rough fish (carp, gar, buffalo and many others) you can take. In fact, the harvest of rough fish is encouraged.

Bigtime Bowfishing is one of Wisconsin's only four season bowfishing guide services. Yes, I said four seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. I know what you're thinking, "Winter bowfishing in Wisconsin?!".  Well let me tell you, winter bowfishing can be phenomenal with days of 300 plus fish. Winter bowfishing is taking it to the extreme, and we at Bigtime Bowfishing do everything we can to make it as enjoyable as possible.

Spring starts off the nighttime bowfishing season for us here at Bigtime Bowfishing. It is a great time to be on the water. The fish have moved up to the shallows, staging for the spawn, and they are the heaviest they will be all year. Spring is when your chance at a true trophy fish is the best.

Sam Wood on another successful bowfishing hunt.Summer brings a lot of different bowfishing opportunities here in Wisconsin. The carp are cruising the weed flats and the gar are up on the surface. The weather has turned warm, creating the best time for a family outing. We can chase fish during the day as well as at night, and a multi species harvest makes summer a great time to be on the water.

Fall bowfishing is a great tune-up for the upcoming archery season. The weather has cooled off, but the bowfishing has not! There is still great potential for large numbers and fast action. A lot of the lakes and rivers throughout Wisconsin are green with algae blooms, and this is where our experience really pays off. We know which lakes are clear, and we know where the fish are.

During your Wisconsin bowfishing adventure with Bigtime Bowfishing you can use your own equipment, or we will provide top of the line equipment for you. We shoot AMS Fishhawk bows with no set draw length and a light draw weight. All our bows have AMS Retriever reels, which are great for the beginner, as well as a veteran.

The boat we will be using is a custom built fish killing machine. It is 20 ft long and 8 ft wide, which makes it very stable.  For night shooting, 500 watt lights illuminate the night, allowing us to see the many fish cruising the shallows. The boat is also equipped with a 30hp, 60 in, fan to help us through the shallows and weed flats.

Our day trips will start in the morning. At some point during the day we will break for lunch, where a shore lunch will be provided. After lunch we will bowfish till the sun goes down.

Sam Wood pictureNight bowfishing in Wisconsin is something everybody should try. The shots are close, and the action is sometimes overwhelming. Your trip will start at dark and continue through the night. We also provide a shore dinner sometime during the night.

Bigtime Bowfishing also provides a combo trip where we start during the afternoon, take a supper break where food is provided, and then continue bowfishing into the night.

All of our Wisconsin bowfishing trips are for up to 3 people and allow for 5 to 6 hours of shooting. Food and bottled water are included in the cost of your adventure. No alcohol is allowed during your trip. We do not take out intoxicated customers. Also, we will not issue refunds to intoxicated persons.
